Seiko Premier Automatic 29 Jewels SPB003J1

If there is one Seiko watch that I think is really really impressive, it is the Seiko Premier Automatic 6R20.  They come in 3 forms: SPB001J1, SPB003J1 and SPB005J1. Lets look at the SPB003J1.

What really impresses me about this watch is not just the movement (6R20 with 29 jewels and 28,800 vibrations per hour i.e.vph) but the form factor of the watch. It is just stunning to look at and hold. It seems as if Seiko has put in a lot of effort in the design of this watch since every last detail has been looked into. The day and date sub-dials add another layer of sophistication to the classy watch. The power-reserve sub-dial looks neat as well. Some people say its a little big, but I think it looks really great and fits the form of the watch very nicely. The SPB003 is not a small watch – the dial measures 35mm in diameter, while the watch itself is 46mm wide including the crown. The band is a Seiko Calf leather brown color and it goes really well with the watch. I wouldn’t have had any other color – not even black with the white face.

The back is a sapphire crystal as well – so that means its see-through. You can see the exquisite movement in action at the back.

All the Seiko Permier Automatics are made in Japan. I tried taking some pics of one, but I must admit that I am not so good yet with photography. But I am learning and soon I hope I will be able to take really great close up pics of the things we all love – watches !
