A Review of Citizen Minute Repeater Eco Drive Perpetual Calendar Watch BL9000-83L

G-Shock is a brand of watches manufactured by Casio, known for its resistance to shocks (e.g. hard knocks and strong vibrations). They were, and continue to be, designed primarily for sports and outdoor adventure oriented activity; for example, practically all G-Shocks have some kind of stopwatch feature, countdown timer, light and water resistance. Recent models have become more luxury and design oriented.

The Casio Men’s G-Shock Analog Chronograph Watch G1000-1A features a striking black dial face with a tough mineral dial window. Stand-out indexes and three convenient sub dials ensure at-a-glance readability, and a handy date calendar rests between the four and five o’clock position. The 47-millimeter case and stationary bezel are made of high-quality resin. Other details include a black-tone resin band and its accompanying buckle-clasp closure. This stunning timepiece brings cool style to your casual look. It’s powered by analog-quartz movement and is water resistant to 200 meter.

This watch is a grateful curiosity. It is an clever success in designing an analog watch which performs typically digital functions such as alarm, stop watch, world-time, and day-date. The cleverness of the engineering is satisfying. All these functions are more easily used and read on a digital watch, of course, but that’s not the point. This watch is for someone wanting a stylish, rugged quartz G-Shock watch that is snobbishly retro analog. The owner of this watch can have tradition and progress in one comfortable package. It’s not a waveceptor, so you don’t have to position it to receive a time signal at night, and it’s not tough solar, so you don’t have to keep it well lighted.

This watch also has a stopwatch which lets you to measure the elapsed time. When you enter the stopwatch mode, the stopwatch 1/20 second hand and the stopwatch minute hand move to zero. The world time mode of this watch shows you the current time in 27 cities around the world.  When you enter the world time mode, the stopwatch second hand will move automatically to the city code that is currently selected as the world time city code. At the same time, the world time dial hands will move to the current time in that city.
