Neither was it about the Prospex Street covered last year; what we’re talking about today are the total of nearly 60,000 watches that were built as Seiko and Capcom decided to do something together, the latter a manufacturer and distributor of electronic game machines that started in Japan and entered the US market four years later, in 1983. The rather interesting part of the Seiko 5 Street Fighter series of timepieces is they aren’t just for Seiko fans! They are for every one of them who loved the Street Fighter video games series. As kids, they all admit the SF series offered a lot of charm; as adults, they all admit the Seiko 5 Street Fighter collection offers a lot of fashionable appeal. What’s more impressive are the smaller details, calling out to the characters and the game’s universe as a whole!

Compared to today’s games, Street Fighter was definitely, highly primitive; until Street Fighter II showed up, things remained pretty bland for them. The Street Fighter II franchise spawned many distinctive games, which often have thrown the actual versions of Street Fighter into obscurity. The spawn-offs featured the same cast of characters; whichever you have played will relate to these six timepieces paying homage to the Fighters. The thoughts about putting the Street Fighter V game series shapes, colors and designs within the Seiko 5 Sport specs and build were mutual. These are bit above – actually, quite a bit above – than the entry-level Seiko mechanical, sports watches; they are most elite and down to fun; off conventional mainstream.

The characters are Ryu, Ken, Chun-Li, Zangief, Blanka and Guile. The watches Seiko build are the watches they would wear! Their consistent style across numerous video game titles lent them a look and feel that’s consistent and will continue being recognizable – today alike – in future. These are not fancy wear watches that need to be fashionably appropriate to the surrounding, although you can’t wear them to corporate affair or to a traditional social gathering. With that said, they are for everywhere else! Also to work, if there’s no strict dress code to follow. They look good on both metal bracelets and NATO-style, sports fabric straps; so you’re in for further experimentation.
