This is a very nice watch from Seiko. With the orange monster and black monster this watch become best diver watch for price under $200.It scores extremely well in all departments – looks, build, accuracy, finish etc. It’s rated to 200m and has luminous hands and markers so it’s great for use under water as well.

The Orange Monster is the best way to catch the collecting bug – it is powerful, colorful, beefy, and cool. It is extremely solid, extremely reliable, and water resistant to 200 meters. The Orange Monster watch is so popular because it’s inexpensive, it’s fun, and it’s a Seiko. It’s a beater, but it’s a beater that will get you compliments.

The rubber strap of this watch moves and bends with ease and is nubby and the in-band extensions add an organic feel to this beast. This organic theme is repeated throughout the piece, from the inset bezel to the odd hands and markings.

The liberally-sized 45 mm steel case showcases a bright orange dial with bold luminous hands and markers, a luminous second hand, and a large day/date window at the three o’clock hour. A highly scratch-resistant curved Hardlex crystal magnifies the dial, optimizing its readability. The dial is framed by a unidirectional rotating steel bezel with engraved dive time markers for safe timing of dives and other limited events. The 21-jewel Japan automatic movement means this watch winds itself with the natural motion of your wrist and never requires a battery. The watch presents on a durable contoured rubber strap with a buckle closure. Designed for scuba diving, it features a screw-down crown and case back.

The case is constructed from 316L solid stainless steel and is very large (42 mm) and heavy. The case back is decorated with Seiko’s SCUBA emblem design which is very pleasing. The screw-in crown is large and solid feeling. The crown has been moved to the 4 o’clock position. The watch has a great looking dial that is uncluttered and very easy to read. Hour markers are over sized which is a unique style for this model.  Minute and Hour hands are heavily built and well lumed. Seiko also has designed the hands so that if the minute hand directly overlaps the hour hand, both are viewable. The Orange Monster includes a Day/Date window that is very readable. The date can bet set to either Spanish or English and the usual black text for weekdays is blue for Saturday and red for Sunday.

Bezel action is smooth and expensive feeling. There are large indents along the outside of the bezel, making operation a cinch. The watch came with Seiko’s rubber dive strap.  It has stainless steel hardware and robust pins.
