The convenience of quartz behind a uniquely designed, black dial housing small, bar indexes and luminous, silver-tone hands. It all looks good but then again, the bad news is that its production has been discontinued. That made snobs look for something beyond their Grand Seiko, Credor and Prospex horizons and go after all of these still around.

The Spirit Military Watch shows the other face of Seiko, chiefly comprising excellent watches at great price. That way, the Seiko Spirit Military is a great quality watch at a sane, affordable price.

Specs have all that are bare minimum to make it wear that military tag; a 36mm, simple watch case in high quality steel; it is 100 meters water resistance and comes with a 5-year battery life. All the hands and numbers are luminous but not the hour marks. However, the white outlines of the hands are thick and drawn to perfection and are extra bright on the lume. The movement is a little loud and can be heard clearly in silent areas.
The bracelet links are folded and not solid and replaceable with the NATO strap. It sits well with the large, crisp dial and thin bezel, giving it a kind of 38mm-feel like the Hamilton Khaki. It also makes the watch suit its military tag more, since the brushed center links of the bracelet imparts a far dressier look to this watch than tolerated in the fields. But it’s definitely a very secure clasp and end-links given a fantastic fit. It’s the kind one would expect in the expensive, luxury watches. Buy with confidence; it offers an outstanding value for money, for the master craftsmen at Seiko have put these together with a lot of TLC, the kind seen in true masterpieces. That makes each of them unique, too.
