  1. Hi there! I am a pilot and was shocked by this layout just as you were. However the last explanation given in the comment does make sense. cheers

  2. I don’t like the backwards compass, but I think it’s by design. With it backwards, you can point 12:00 at the direction you’re heading, and the second hand will point north and at the same time point at the correct heading value on the bezel.

  3. I have the same problem, i was looking to buy the prw5100-1 but for some reason the compass orientation is not correct. The east is on the left side (9 o’clock position) while the west is on the right side (3 o’clock position)…. Why would they do this? I tried asking casio customer support but they could not answer as to why it’s set this way…. I am confused….If you have any info on this please let me know. This is just stupid unless it’s set that way for some legitimate reason….

  4. What’s wrong with “some” Casio Watches” I don’t get it!

Many of the various watches have the Compass displayed on their bezels correctly with 090 (or East) on the Right Side next to the winder – and 270 (West) on the Left Hand of the Bezel. (This matches the Decades long traditional layout of a Compass, and is correct.)

However, the PRS5100 Model (and some other Casio Watches) have this information incorrectly reversed. Moreover, they have 270 Degrees (i.e. West) on the Right Side of the Bezel and 090 Degrees on the Left Side of the Bezel — This is the EXACT OPPOSITE of how a Compass is layed out. WHY?

Yet, other Casio Watches correclty display this information consistent with how a Compass would display it. Go Figure!

SO — WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON CASIO? BEEN IN TOUCH WITH YOUR NEW JERSEY OFFICES REGARDING THIS MATTER, AND THEY MERELY STATE THEY’LL FORWARD the INFORMATION ON TO EITHER MANAGEMENT OR THE WATCH “MAKERS”? BUT NO RESPONSE.

LOVE TO HEAR WHY THERE IS SUCH A DISCREPANCE (HEY – 180 DEGREES “OFF”) BETWEEN WATCHES WHICH CORRECTLY DISPLAY THIS INFORMATION — AND THE PRW5100 MODEL WHICH IS PATENTLY “BACKWARDS”

I’d be Buyer of the PRW5100 if ths oddity did not exist. Very Said. Not to mention completely inconsistent with any Compass you’ll ever use or see.
