Using a triple-protection design for the parts, module, and case, the G-Shock offered a radical new type of watch that was unaffected by strong impacts or shaking. The dial is somewhat inside the bezel which is covered with some layers of Polyurethane material. The dial is consisting of two digital screens one is circular and another one is square. It is a digi analog watch with two hands. It has world time digital display that displays the current time in 27 cities (29 time zones) around the world. It also features Countdown timer, Water resistant to 200 meters, 12/24-hour format, Auto-calendar (to year 2039), 5 independent daily alarms and 1/100-second stopwatch. The progress beeper beeps to signal countdown progress. The alarm sounds for about 20 seconds. The backlight uses an EL electro-luminescent panel that causes the entire display to glow for easy reading in the dark. The display glows when the watch operates in world time mode, countdown timer and stopwatch operation. The watch also displays city code for various cities. It includes a stopwatch function that can measure events down to 1/100 of a second for the first 60 minutes (and down to 1 second from 60 minutes to 24 hours), and it offers elapsed and split time modes. Other timekeeping features include a multi-function alarm, hourly time signal (which can be turned off), and 12/24-hour formats. Water resistance to 200 meters (660 feet)–which will stand up to the rigors of recreational scuba diving.
