As I’ve gotten deeper with gentlemen on the more serious sides of human nature, I gradually found out such men to be always on the lookout for the perfect tool. Be it something to fix up gadgets; or something to travel. To play! Or to manage their time! At times, they want in all simplicity

“These are admittedly turning rare and the scarcity of new ones to blame. Orient’s initiative towards the problem revealed an interesting one.” A good pocket watch is fascinating. A nice pocket watch is even more! But what if it’s a fine pocket watch? That’s absolutely fascinating; to Gonzo at least! It doesn’t necessarily be Swiss
What are usually the first names that come to mind as expensive (and super-expensive) watches? Pateks, Lange, AP, J-LC, Rolex, Ulysse Nardin, Franck Muller…the list stretches to quite afar; mostly into the Swiss territories. High-end luxury timepieces spell S-W-I-S-S to a large chunk. Also, P-R-I-C-E-Y! Question remains: “Why?” The nature of the movements is a vital determinant. We know that more or less. Mechanical watches take more labor to make and are more expensive than quartz.
-“With high-priced (and very high-priced) watches, even a relatively well-informed person undergoes a certain dilemma; of what’s been told and what he will get. Choosing an awesome watch thus gets difficult and then, again you come back to reality. So, understand first that different watches have different objectives; so to speak, a watch is intended to be appreciated on its own terms.” Affordable – in its real sense – is simply ‘less expensive’. To some, those two very words add a stigma right away;
Q. Dear Gonzo, I am anything but an expert in this particular domain; maybe slightly above being completely ignorant. I look for a watch to own and become knowledgeable about why I bought it and not another. I intend to repeat the process in future and acquire the right pieces without spending tons. A decent – if possible more than that – craftsmanship is my priority lookout and then, excellent aesthetics. I specifically ask you about skeleton watches and what might be good within a thousand dollars.
Gonzo expresses his views on experimentation. Q. Hi Gonzo! I come straight to the point: Is it owning that one watch or trying out several different watches and never fixing upon one that earns more credit among the watch experts? By experts I mean those who make and those who appreciate and collect, both. A.
The Tissot Heritage Petite seconde evolved over two consecutive weeks; in the sense, following a release, a re-edition was introduced to the market at a week-long gap. Last year i.e. in 2018, this Swiss brand in Baselworld showed. The dial design changes a bit in the re-edition but the basics of the Tissot Heritage Petite Seconde remains. The Petite Seconde name is for a sub-second white dial. This is done in dress watches commonly.
Quite a few of my readers accept that Gonzo has preferences for automatic watches and they must not necessarily be from a certain place or a certain manufacturer to turn him on. Favoritism, well; of course, shows its ugly face up once in a while – ok, in quite a few of the instances of
Highlights: It has high styles. Got a better than average quality. Give no problems even after running for years. It’s a great selection of fancy to conservative designs. Strong points: Comfortable as a daily wear with casual and formal clothing. Different from other watches. Invicta Specialty watches are showy and useful at the same time.
A great Mother’s Day idea is something to accompany her year round. Watches fit just right! Mother’s Day is happy time for the fortunate who received motherly love from anyone; not just from the lady who bore you in its literal sense. Or, it could be about anyone whose motherly instincts you admire. It’s about
There are Powermatics and there ARE Powermatics. Today, I intend to speak about the latter. The Tissot T-Classic Powermatic 80 T099 series! Why, you might ask. Simply, because I like them! I find them the most likeable among the entire Powermatic range. De gustibus non est disputandum! Not just about the esthetics; it also applies
My days as the Watch Gonzo made it almost a habit popping a post or two here every week. It is now hard to avoid a feeling that my posts off-late are turning bit predictable. It is like many among you readers are beginning to know me well enough. That gets you to see how
Not every watch embraces the fundamentals that brand it Swiss-made. No, not even many of those luxurious (well, they look so at least!) fashion watches built under Swiss collaboration but hear me out here! Only a few could achieve the world-class accessory despite belonging to another country and culture and in this regard, the Americans
To many of us, a fine dress watch is indispensable. Our other watches might range from rugged sports and tool watches and highly technical pieces, but common sense applied, they don’t get well with the shirt cuffs. With Orient Classic Automatic watches, that gap is bridged! These are also for the crowds who don’t like
Worthy of a price at least double of what they come for, the Zeppelin watches (from PointTEC group) are an extremely well-built lot, exhibiting a high-grade finish and construction. They deny the general mindset of German products being stocky and bland; with being all-utilitarian and scoring real low on aesthetics. Unless you are blindfolded, you
