Each of the hour and minute hands of the Ratio Skysurfer watches comprises two parts. These are the base part and the top part placed one atop the other. The 3D visual effect comes from this design maneuver; its prominence is further enhanced by the application of the high-quality luminous paint from Japan! The thin, cylindrical seconds-hand has the Ratio logo attached to its end. This logo, apart from counter-balancing the seconds-hand, enhances the overall visual appeal of the watch face.
We have chosen a non-radioactive, nontoxic photo-luminescent paint from Japan for Ratio Skysurfer watches. When charged under bright sunlight continuously for 8 hours, it will give you an afterglow that will last through the night without the glow fading too much.
The Type A Ratio Skysurfer watches have the lume material applied to their indices, the minute-markers, and the hour-hands. The Type B watches have it applied all over the dial. Both offer excellent visual clarity in dark.

The 200m water resistance of the Skysurfer watches is double that of most other pilot watches. 30m to 50m or sometimes, even 100 meters is common, but you must stay prepared for the worst when out on an adventure. Ratio Skysurfer watches are one of the very few pilot watches that have 200m water resistance and doesn’t cost big bucks.

Carved from a single block of the steel, the cases of the Ratio Skysurfer watches are brushed and polished maintaining the utmost quality. The 316L stainless steel is used for the screw-in case backs, hands, pins, and buckles alike. The low carbon content of 316L steel has high corrosion and magnetic resistance with a relatively good hardness @ 222HV (HV = Vickers Hardness).
The Ratio Skysurfer comes in two different case sizes 38mm and 40mm (Type A and Type B; with crowns, they are 42mm and 44mm respectively); lug width is 19mm (Type A) and 20mm (Type B), lug-to-lug is 46.50 mm and 48.50mm respectively, thickness 10.5mm i.e. of the case; with the sapphire crystal, it becomes 11.90mm. The thickness of the sapphire is 1.40mm.
Skysurfer watches are powered by the 24-Jewels Seiko NH38A movement. The beat rate for this mechanical, automatic movement is 21,600bph (3Hz). It can run for 40+ hours on a fully wound mainspring. The seconds-hacking feature allows for accurate time-setting. Factory regulation sets it at +20 seconds but it can be further regulated to stay within +10 seconds or less. But this will break the factory seal.
