This Seiko Sportura Kinetic is an analogue quartz watch equipped with an Automatic Generating System developed by Seiko. It generates the electric energy to power the watch, utilizing the movement of the arm, and stores it in the Kinetic Electricity Storage Unit, which requires no periodical replacement unlike conventional button-type batteries.
This watch has Hour, minute and second hands and automatic power generator i.e., it never needs battery. It has stopwatch minute and 1/5 second hand. The stopwatch measures up to 45 minutes in 1/5 second increments. This watch also has energy depletion forewarning function and overcharge prevention function. When the watch is fully charged, the watch will keep operating for approximately 5 months. The duration of charge decreases gradually over time. The extent of decrease, however, varies depending on the environment and condition of use.
Seiko Kinetic Chronograph combines Kinetic quartz accuracy with clever traditional watch making – It has four times the number of wheels found in a standard quartz watch. Kinetic technology solves the problem that plagues most quartz chronographs. Kinetic movements use natural arm motion to generate electricity, stored in a capacitor that powers the watch.
