For those who want everything at a glance: Casio lovers shall be delighted. In fact, it’s going to delight every active guy and particularly them with an immense love for the outdoors. Finally, you’ll be traveling light (in its every sense) and a flick of the wrist is enough to give you all that you’ll possibly want on a go.

For those who got all the time: You have read the summary, so you already got the whiff of a watch that gets the job done and – unless I’m pathetically wrong – you’ll ask for more. Sure, but keeping aside all exaltations. There’s no need glorifying further something about as good as it gets. “You don’t paint a lily” – as our Wise Gonzo would say.

G-Shock or otherwise, digital timepieces never quite fascinated me, so long neglected even the cultural phenomenon that grew with it. I liked them only in the movies; the Marines (or some other tactical unit) wearing them, but that’s all. Only much later I learned of celebrities often rocking the G-Shock off the camera (or the court, or the rostrum…whatever) and some of the outdoor purists counting them as go-anywhere timepieces.

But here is the problem: Some treat G-Shock-s as just a piece of fashion – which it is – but unless you wear it for the right reasons and with the right clothes, the whole idea behind this incredibly masculine and funky accessory goes wrong.

What I say is if you are in a mining job or somehow related with machineries, equipment or tactical gears, this can be one hell of a regular workwear (e.g. supervisor of a large construction site or an auto technician specialising in engines) but it’s not if sales and marketing are what you look after. IMHO, a G-Shock in a client meet is plain throwing it around in everyone’s face; doesn’t matter even if you own the business. What adorns pro-skiiers, aviation experts and hip hop stars must not be exposed to a sedentary setting.

But there are still many beyond skaters and rappers and these are some of the wealthiest and most fashionable men in your town. A lot of them just go for the G-Shock with most features (whether he understands them or not) and the highest price, but let’s not comment on it. Whether it keeps the G-Shock prices climbing is also not our concern. But definitely, this is a crowd who would go for a G-Shock because it’s a $5,000 bang, not for the exquisite, katana (samurai swords) stainless steel that went into it.

Here’s a quick tip if you are buying a G-Shock: Find out how you can fit in to your everyday life. I’m a bit into Indian Vaastu and I use the compass to fix the right directions. I give service to offshore clients and the world time is a great help to me. But above all, my G-Shock doesn’t ask me not to get my hands dirty with the grease and the oil.
