As might be expected, this is a spectacular watch.
The watch is a perfect size at 40-42mm x 12mm and the weight, 96g, means it is substantial but not intrusive.
The link of the skeleton and the 24 hour dial creates interest while not being overly busy. The sapphire glass, front and back, is excellent. The black hands on the white face make it easy to read except at the 9 position, where the hands meet the skeleton. Of course, there is no lume.
Normally, I prefer a watch with a date but I knew what I was getting so that wasn't an issue.
The leather band and the metal clasp are excellent. I could have bought the metal band but the leather band gives the watch a traditional look that works with the modern face, especially with the Roman numerals.
I bought the watch for the hand wind and hacking facilities, and both are fine. One criticism is that there is no information in the instructions as to how much winding is required to compensate for my not wearing the watch the recommended 10 hours a day. As this watch doesn't have a power reserve indicator I would have liked that information.
My major criticism is that for a 24 jewel movement the watch isn't as accurate as other similarly priced Orient watches (CFA, FFM and the cheaper FEU in particular). Those three watches vary less than 5 seconds a day but the SSA loses 8 sec/day, which is a disappointment, especially for a watch that is made in Japan rather than in other factories.
The speed of delivery from Creation Watches was, as usual, exemplary. I also like to buy watches from there as I know the freight cost in advance. I recently cancelled an order for a watch from the US when at the last minute the $50 freight came up just as I was ready to commit. That certainly killed a $750 sale.
I shall continue my policy of buying and collecting quality Japanese watches.
